Julep Sandee

This is Julep Sandee, from my Julep box this month, which was super delayed because apparently they had difficulty getting the polish colors (or maybe just this one?) out. More on that in my box post later.

Sandee is described an an oxblood shimmer, and while that’s not entirely inaccurate, it’s one of the darker oxblood-ish polishes I own and looks almost like a warm off-black. It has a lovely copper/bronze shimmer that helps bring out the red tone in the base, but overall, the color is very dark.

If you’re careful, you might be able to get away with one coat on this one, and the color will be more oxblood and less off-black when it’s less opaque, but it wasn’t completely even for me in one coat, so I used two. I’m not sure if it was my own sloppiness with  scraping off the long-stemmed Julep brush or a stickier formula, but the polish kind of gathered on the stem of the brush more than usual, and I had some accidental cuticle flooding because of that. It’s not unmanageable, but I’ll need to remember that for next time. Dry time seemed a little longer than average.

Overall, I like this polish, even though I was hoping for something a little less dark and more obviously oxblood. I do love my vampy polishes, though, so no matter.
