Julep Primrose

Last week’s nail swatch, Julep Primrose, two coats, plus Sally Hansen Miracle Gel top coat:

Primrose is a beautiful orchid-pink jelly with fine holo flakes. The holographic effect isn’t terribly strong, from what I experienced, and the flakes generally read as silver, though very sparkly! The rainbows come out a bit in stronger light, though, and the sparkle has more dimension than the typical silver flakes. Overall, I like the effect, even though it’s not the most holographic of holographic polishes.

Formula was good and had an average dry time. It’s reasonably opaque. The only issue I had with it is the cure time seems to be long; even though the polish dried, it seemed easy to damage for hours afterward, and I had some serious dings some three hours after application, which was unfortunate. Maybe another top coat or base coat would have played better with this polish. (For reference, I used my typical Nail-Aid Peeling Nail Intense Repair Gel (no longer in production) as a base coat, which generally works great.)

Tl;dr – beautiful color, but was easily dinged in the first few hours after drying. May do better with another combination of base coat/top coat.
